Week 6 Review

Leo winning an oscar for best actor in a leading role, was by far the best thing that happened this week. Finally! It was about time! He has been nominated for 7 oscars, but actors with stronger roles have always outdone him. His role in The Revenant has been the most difficult role that he has had to do and because of this, I feel that this has been his greatest opportunity to win an Academy Award.

Even Though Leo won the Oscar, the performance of Leo’s fellow nominees were also fantastic. One of Leo’s opponents, Eddie Redmayne, does an amazing job in The Danish Girl, which I saw on Tuesday. He plays Einar Wegener, an artist who with support from his loving wife Gerda (Alicia Vikander), begins to come out as a transgender and prepares to undergo one of the first sex-change operations in history. Redmayne, who won the academy award last year for leading male actor in The Theory of Everything; proves once again, how deeply he can immerse himself into a role.

His acting in this movie just seems so natural, and the emotion, confusion and heartache he conveys, feels like your own. He was so genuine, and made me feel so sympathetic towards him. His co-star. Alicia Vikander, also does a job well done and received an Academy Award For Best Actress In A Supporting Role.
